Villa Romana del Casale was built in the 4th Century CE and is known for its impressive Roman mosaics which is said to be the largest of its kind in the world. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was abandoned during the 12th Century CE and was discovered only in the 19th Century. The first archaeological dig was in 1929. The mosaics depict various scenes and are of exceptional quality and workmanship. This single story luxury villa features four sections, the main entry and its thermal baths, living area with guest rooms, private areas, public hall, dining area and a courtyard. Almost every room is ornately decorated with these artworks.
