Claimed to be one of the oldest cities of Romania, Constanța can be traced to 600 BCE. Tomis, as it used to be called, was first occupied by the Greeks and later acquired by the Romans in 29 BCE. Its name was changed to Constantiana after the sister of Emperor Constantine the Great. The city, located on the Black Sea is a busy port. It is one of the hottest cities of the country, and hence, attracts holidaymakers who indulge in sea-bathing. Mineral springs are found here. The city is also known for its historic attractions.
