The mountain pass of Gotthard Pass, also known locally as Passo del San Gottardo, is housed in the region separating Airolo and Ticino cantons of Switzerland. The mountain pass connects the German-inhabited region of Switzerland to the Italian inhabited part. It also connects to the route that meets Milan. The mountain pass has ancient roots, however, the same was put to use in the early 13th Century. There is an interesting bridge, named as the ‘Devil’s Bridge’ housed within the pass. Gothard Pass encloses many tunnels that connect with the different regions of this pass.
