Mandrake Park

Outdoor activities and sports have long been considered integral to the well-being and wholesome development of our children and youth. In an urban setting, however, opportunities to indulge in such activities have to come to be increasingly rare and hard to find. In a metropolitan city like Chicago, Mandrake Park is not just a park, but is a blessing in disguise. The park is named after Henry McNeil "Mandrake" Brown, who is known for his stand against alcohol and tobacco advertisements that targeted children and members of certain races. The park boasts stellar recreational facilities, including baseball diamonds, basketball courts, a race track, a multi-purpose athletic field, tennis courts and a playground for children. A gymnasium, an auditorium and meeting rooms are also available at the Fieldhouse at the park.
