TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Located between Donegal town and Ballyshannon, along the banks of River Blackwater lies the village of Ballintra. The people of the village predominantly belong to one of three religions: Roman Catholic, Methodist and the Church of Ireland. Surrounded by beautiful lakes and a small waterfall, the village’s name means ‘dried up river’, as the water sources dry up in the Summers. Ballintra is known for its limestone quarry, the August horse races and the famous Bay Bush bar.
