TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
From a historical point of view, Dybbøl is counted among the most important towns in Denmark. It was the site of epoch-making battles in the First and Second Wars of Schleswig and played a defining role in the latter, which resulted in the defeat of Denmark and the surrender of Schleswig to Prussia. Today, the town is a nationally-recognized site and is home to a museum and memorial. Its nationally-famous landmark and symbol is the picturesque Dybbøl Mill or Dybbøl Mølle that rises nostalgically over the surrounding fields. The town's breathtaking scenery perhaps inspired several works of landscape architect Jens Jensen, who was born here.
