Via Appia Antica 153, Rome, 00179
One of the best maintained ancient Roman circuses, Circus of Maxentius was established in the 4th Century by Emperor Maxentius. Today, the structure's ruins attract several tourists throughout the year. The ruins also include the tomb of Romulus, Maxentius's son. When the circus was constructed, it was supposed to be for the entertainment of the king and his friends only. However, many researchers believe that no entertainment actually took place here, ever, apart from a couple of events during its opening.
