The award-winning Shelton Vineyards was established in 1994 by brothers Ed and Charlie Shelton. A haven for every oenophile, the vineyards span over 406 acres (164.30 hectares) and is touted to be one of the largest wineries in the state. Their European style wines are par excellence and the list is quite long, including the Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Port, and Family Reserve Chardonnay among others. The vineyards proffer informative guided tours where visitors can get a hands-on experience of the wine making process. The vineyard also doubles up as an excellent venue for weddings and special occasions. It is home to the Hampton Inn hotel as well. Local events and tasting sessions are frequently held here. Garnered with lavish accolades, the Shelton Vineyards has won a number of prestigious awards including the Gold Medal 2012 Estate Chardonnay, Silver Medal 2012 Estate Cabernet Franc, Silver Medal 2011 Two Five Nine Tannat, and Bronze Medal 2012 Two Five Nine Dry Riesling.
