Dating back to 1623, the Pettelaarse Schans was a fortress that had been a part of several sieges and wars over the years. However, as the fort was no longer required for military purposes, it was demolished. Visitors can now see the site of the fort, designed as a five-pointed star. Major cultural events like Citymoves Festival, Liberation Brabant and Soul Live also take place here. If you want a glimpse of the city’ local history and culture, look no further than heading to Pettelaarse Schans.
