Originally from Virginia, Wayne Newton is a singer and actor who has earned the nickname Mr. Las Vegas for his contributions to entertainment in the city of sin. After a Las Vegas booking agent saw him and his brother Jerry perform on a local television show in Phoenix, the two high school students were brought in for an audition and earned a two week residency, though ended up performing six nights a week for five years. Newton eventually earned a headlining act at the Flamingo Hotel, and has since continued to dominate the night life in Las Vegas and beyond, including performing at the Independence Day concert at the National Mall in 1983 and earning his own show on E!, titled The Entertainer.
