Formed by Swedish record executives, Alcazar began as a four-piece meant to be a reincarnation of Abba in 1998. The band received success with its bubblegum pop and gaudy performances, but broke up in 2005. Three years later two band members decided to regroup and invited a friend to be their third member. Still going by the Alcazar moniker and still producing dancefloor singles that are as glittery as ever, Alcazar is a favorite at European gay dance clubs.
