The Lowlands Festival (or as it is officially but very infrequently known, A Campingflight to Lowlands Paradise) is one of the largest music festivals in the Benelux area. Started in the 1960s by Dutch performing artists, it has since grown to be a wildly popular summer destination for both fans and performers. Past guests of the festival include Gogol Bordello, Chemical Brothers, Franz Ferdinand, and The White Stripes. The festival includes over ten stages, many of them sheltered by tents to guard against the Netherlands' mercurial weather. In addition to music, the festival's program features stand-up comedy.
