Hailing from Brattleboro, Vermont King Tuff is a psychedelic garage rock band centered around front man Kyle Thomas, who adopted the alter ego King Tuff while he was a teenager playing in folk bands. Though he is probably best known for his work on J. Mascis' side project Witch, Thomas formed a band in 2008, began mixing 1960s garage rock with 1970s glam rock and eventually ended up with King Tuff's debut album, Was Dead. After touring with Hunx & his Punx and Witch and releasing an album with his power pop band Happy Birthday, Thomas returned his focus to King Tuff and released the band's eponymous follow-up album in 2012 with retro-pop elements.
