Edsilia Rombley is a Dutch pop singer from Amsterdam who has been performing since 1995. Though she sings in Dutch, Rombley's music is highly evocative of the modern pop and contemporary R&B music that is popular in much of the United States and the UK. Glossy house-influenced pulses and disco touches are wrapped up in a decidedly slick, radio-friendly package that ultimately serves as a vehicle to showcase Rombley's strong voice. She twice has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest, where she placed fourth in 1998 and reached the semi-finals in 2007. Her danceable, straight-up pop sound has made her hit throughout the Netherlands.
