Regarded as one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time, Brian May is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from London who is best known as a member of the iconic rock band Queen. After Queen formed in 1971, he helped the band develop its signature theatrical glam and hard rock sound by penning some of the band's most beloved songs, including arguably the band's most well know track "We Will Rock You," occasionally singing lead vocals and most notably, lending his razor sharp guitar chops to the band's wall of sound. As the band members explored side projects in the early to mid-1980s, May also released his first solo record, a mini-album titled Star Fleet Project, in 1983 and went on to collaborate with artists such as Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett and Black Sabbath. After the death of Queen front man and creative leader Freddie Mercury in 1991, May dealt with the grief by submerging himself in his own work, finishing his album Black to the Light and forming The Brian May Band. Along with long time friend, collaborator and Queen drummer Roger Taylor, May continues to honor the band that made him a legend by remastering previously release material and touring under the Queen name with vocalists who would do Mercury proud.
