Though existing in many different forms, including a strings-only incarnation as well as a band with a horn-intensive sound during it's later years, the Irish Chamber Orchestra has always managed to maintain a high level of refinement and sophistication that has brought it legions of fans and heaps of critical praise since the group's inception in 1963. Formed by well renowned conductor and violinist Janos Furst at the University of Limerick, the Irish Chamber Orchestra maintained a dutiful touring schedule that typically finds the forever morphing and evolving band playing in numerous towns, villages, cities and rural areas that hose county fairs in the Southern part of Ireland.
