Deborah Brown, born around 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri, is an influential American jazz singer who has gained international recognition. Coming from a musical background with a classical musician and accordion teacher as her mother, Brown initially learned to play the violin and later mastered the accordion and piano under the guidance of her grandmother. At the age of 20, she embarked on a professional singing career after receiving brief vocal training from George Peckham. Brown toured with various ensembles across the United States and performed with a big band in Las Vegas, accompanying George Carlin. From 1985 to 1995, she resided in Europe, primarily working from Amsterdam and touring in the Far East. During this time, she recorded her debut album with Jack van Poll's trio and led her own band called Jazz 4 Jazz. Brown collaborated with renowned musicians and released albums with artists such as Zbigniew Namysłowski, David Linx, Pierre Van Dormael, Jan Lundgren, and Johnny Griffin. She currently resides in the United States, occasionally performing internationally.
