Ray Romano is an American comedian, actor and writer who first found the pop culture spotlight with the success of his long-running ABC television show, Everybody Loves Raymond. He was raised in New York City by his Italian-American parents, who would later factor into the comedic inspiration found in his comedy. By the late-1980s, he was beginning to find work thanks to strong word-of-mouth for his stand-up performances and became a regular on the influential animated Comedy Central show, Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. In 1996, Everybody Loves Raymond began its 10 year run, mirroring Romano's own stand-up career with mainstream-friendly humor found within the pros and cons of family life. He continues to write, produce and star in television and film, and still occasionally performs stand-up shows.
