Known best for his work as a correspondent on the popular and award-winning The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, John Oliver is a British comedian and actor now living in the United States. He was raised in England, mostly around the Liverpool area, and studied English while attending university in Cambridge. After moving to New York City, Oliver began to perform stand-up comedy around 2001, instantly appealing to audiences with his dry wit, sharp observational humor and intelligence. In 2006, he joined The Daily Show as its "Senior British Correspondent," allowing a widespread audience to get a taste of his nuanced delivery and at times off-the-wall nature. In addition to his work on The Daily Show, Oliver has appeared in a number of other programs and films, including a recurring role on NBC's popular sitcom, Community.
