After winning the second season of "Das Supertalent"(Germany's version of "Britain's Got Talent"), Michael Hirte capped an unlikely and memorable journey into the pop music spotlight. He'd never really entertained searching for success as a musician, instead enjoying an ordinary life as truck driver. In 1991, however, he was part of a car accident that left him with a crippled leg and a blind right eye. Unable to work, he took to performing in the streets, blowing passersby away with his beautiful renditions of classic material on mouth organ. His version of "Ave Maria"helped him woo the judges on "Das Supertalent,"leading to an unexpected and heartwarming victory for the endearing blue collar musician.
