Channeling the spirit of neo-psychedelia stalwarts such as The Black Angels and The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Toronto's Action Makes revels in the swirling rock and roll of generations passed. Though it took five years for the group to release its self-titled debut album in 2010, the results have paid off the for the band, as rock critics around Canada have showered it with praise. The five-piece's songs drip with a dark and moody atmospheric quality that is bolstered by droning organs, snaky bass lines and a non-stop two guitar attack. Lead singer Clint Rogerson employs a versatile vocal delivery that jumps in intensity with his band's crashing buildups, often culminating in a cathartic scream. Riding the success of its debut recording, the band tours frequently and has recently started to perform at various music festivals around Canada.
