Now known as the "Godfather of Dubstep," DJ Hatcha was instrumental in helping the now hugely popular electronic genre find its legs in the first few years of the 2000s. Applying his over a decade's worth of knowledge and experience as a DJ and producer, he began to focus all his attention on the dark, chilly vibes of dubstep when the genre first began to pop up in his home of Croydon, England. He mixed the first Dubstep All-stars compilation in 2003 and helped establish the genre via his residency at Forward>> in 2001. Unlike much of the grittier, party-minded style of modern dubstep, Hatcha holds true to the nuanced, icy and hauntingly atmospheric characteristics of the genre's original form.
