Smoove & Turrell is a British duo from Gateshead. It comprises Jonathan Scott Watson (Smoove) and John Turrell, both of whom already had successful careers in the music industry before meeting each other. After teaming up, the duo released its limited-edition debut single "I Can't Give You Up" in 2007. A split release with Torpedo Boyz, the single earned popularity in underground circles and soon became a collector's item. Following the recording of its debut album, the group's agent sent a copy to Jalapeño Records, who offered the duo a deal within an hour; the album, titled Antique Soul, hit the shelves in 2009. Amidst releasing other albums, such as Eccentric Audio, Broken Toys and Crown Posada, the duo continued to enhance its sound. Some of its most popular tracks are "Hard Work," "You Couldn've Been a Lady," "No Point in Trying" and "Will You Be Mine," among others.
