Icelandic seven-piece Hjaltalín first became a band when a group of college students decided to join a songwriting competition. The musicians found enough success to propel them make the band permanent, adding four mor members to its lineup. With its quirky chamber pop, the group won the "Best Hope" award at the Icelandic Music Ceremony, shooting Hjaltalín to national attention and eventually grabbing the ears of record labels and publications in the UK. Since then, the band has picked up several more awards and landed prominent spots are festivals throughout the UK and Iceland.
