Based in Brooklyn, The Big Sleep is an indie rock band that formed in 2003. The three-piece outfit is comprised of bassist and vocalist Sonya Balchandani, guitarist and vocalist Danny Barria and drummer Gabe Rhodes. After self-releasing its You Today, Me Tomorrow EP, the band caught the attention of French Kiss Records with its highly instrumental shoegaze and psychedelic sound. The Big Sleep's debut full-length album, Son of the Tiger, was released in 2006 and drew comparisons to fellow New Yorkers and indie rockers Sonic Youth. The band explored the experimental and post-rock genres further with its 2012 album, Nature Experiments.
