Aztec Camera was a Scottish new wave and post punk band led by lead singer and songwriter Roddy Frame. Formed in 1980, the band went through several lineup changes in its formative years, though it has always essentially remained Frame's project. The group's 1983 debut LP, High Land, Hard Rain, confidently displayed its shimmery acoustic guitar pop and jangly rock songs on tracks such as "Oblivious," one of the Glasgow-based band's biggest hits. Aztec Camera released six full-length albums by 1995, when Frame ultimately decided to end the project and carry on under his own name. Though it may not be remembered quite as much some of its contemporaries, Aztec Camera was an underrated 1980s pop band that penned some of the decade's finest singles.
