Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is a punk rock cover band that recreates material from a wide spectrum of artists, from Elton John to Boyz 2 Men and The Beatles to Johnny Cash. Formed in 1995, the group came together with no intentions of releasing material, though began offering a series of singles named after the singers they covered, including Diamond, Denver, Barry, Stevens. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes released its debut full-length album Have a Ball, in 1997, focused on classic 1960s, 1970s and 1980s songs, starting a tradition that each of its subsequent albums would have an over arching theme, such as the 2006 country western-themed record, Love Their County.
