Dhafer Youssef

Dhafer Youssef is a singer/songwriter and oud player whose unique style of ethno jazz has helped bring him acclaim. Originally from Tunisia, Youssef splits his time between Paris and Vienna now. Blending traditional North African instrumental stylings within the confines of jazz song structures, Youssef has proven himself as one of the more inventive jazz fusionists of his generation. Since releasing his debut album, Blue Planet, in 1997, Youssef has continued to release LPs at a consistent rate in addition to maintaining a fairly busy touring schedule.
