Based in Portland Rare Monk is a five-piece band that creates experimental indie rock. With influences that range from 1990s alternative rock to psychedelia and even jazz, the band's sound walks the line between shoegaze and rock and roll. The band released its debut EP Astral Travel Battles, in 2011 followed by its 2012 Death By Proxy EP and eventually its full-length debut in 2013.
