The Richmond Flying Squirrels is a minor league baseball team that competes in the Western Division of the Eastern League. Founded in 1972, the team is based in Richmond, Virginia and plays its home games at The Diamond. Though it was originally linked with the Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees off and on, the franchise now acts as the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.
