Arguably the most successful football team from Brazil, Palmeiras has been a long-standing legend of world football. Established in 1914, the club proved it was bound for greatness ever since it won its first ever trophy in 1920. Since then the club's rise has been meteoric, as it went on to become one of the giants of Brazilian football by the 1960s. By the turn of the century, the club would also conquer South America, adding a Copa Libertadores title to a trophy cabinet that already contained several Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and Copa do Brasil championships. Palmeiras has also been home to several footballing legends such as world cup winners Cafu, Rivaldo and Roberto Carlos.
