Founded by native Austrians Ben Bohm (guitarist and background singer) and Silvia Ryder (vocals), Sugarplum Fairies mix melancholic vocals with sparkling instruments. Influenced by musical icons like Francoise Hardy, The Velvet Underground, Jean-Luc Godard and John Lennon, the indie rock and pop duo debuted in 1999 with its first album, Flake. After two more albums, the musical pair parted ways in 2013. However, using the same name, Ryder continues her efforts by assembling rotating lineups of guest artists and co-writers, who contributed to the creation of the 2014 album, Godspeed & Silver Linings.
