Pullman is an alternative folk band that is the result of years of collaborations between four veteran musicians: Bundy K. Brown of Direction in Music, Chris Brokaw of Come, Curtis Harvey of Rex and Douglas McCombs of Eleventh Dream Day and Tortoise. The four peers officially joined together in 1997, before capturing an instrumental, mostly acoustic style on Pullman's debut album, Turnstyles & Junkpiles. Released in 1998 with Thrill Jockey, the album was recorded live to tape and earned acclaim for its woven finger-picking and raw sound. As its members continue to record and tour with their individual bands, Pullman continues to maintain its reputation as an acoustic rock supergroup with record such as 2011's Viewfinder.
