Montpellier Hérault Sport Club, or Montpellier HSC, is a professional football club based in the city of Montpellier in the south of France. Initially founded in 1919 as Stade Olympique Montpellierain, the team operated under a number of different monikers before adopting its current name in 1989. Montpellier HSC competes in Ligue 1 and plays its home matches at the Stade de la Mosson. It was crowed champions of Ligue 1 for the first time in its history in 2011–2012.
