Stade Lavallois Mayenne Football Club was formed in 1902 in Laval, a town in western France. It achieved its first pivotal victory in 1964 at the Division d'Honneur, which is the sixth-tier football competition in France. This jump started its career and within a span of few years, it found itself in the Ligue 1, where it went head to head against the best clubs in the country. Its run in the top-flight lasted till 1989. The club now competes in the Championnat National and can be seen playings its home games at the Stade Francis Le Basser.
