Le Havre is a professional football team that competes in Ligue 2 - the second tier league in French football. Established in 1872, it is France's oldest football club and one of the first teams to play in the erstwhile French Championship. While the team has played in the top flight on a number of occasions, it is yet to win a major trophy. Although it has not been able to make an impact on the big stage, its academy has produced a number of world class footballers including Lassana Diarra, Paul Pogba, Benjamin Mendy and Dimitri Payet.
