Gnawa Diffusion is an Algerian folk band based in Grenoble, France. Led by chief singer/songwriter Amazigh, son of prominent Algerian writer and poet Kateb Yacine, the group blends traditional North African music styles with elements of reggae and roots music. Releasing its debut album, Légitime différence, in 1993, the group has since kept active, releasing additional LPs, touring and building a reputation for itself as one of the more prominent European-based Algerian folk acts.
