Though based out of Los Angeles, the name Far East Movement is a reference to the heritage of the four members of the electro-hop group. Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif and DJ Virman have familial ties to Korea, China, Japan and the Philippines, lending a distinct multicultural vibe to the collective's blend of hip-hop, electro-pop and club music. Far East Movement began its career in 2003, kicking around Los Angeles with self-recorded tracks and mixtapes. Since then, it's made a name for itself with a popular video for its biggest hit, "Like a G6" and inclusion in Hollywood blockbuster soundtracks, including The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift in 2006.
