Tartuffe, also known by its full title Tartuffe, or the Imposter, is a comic play written by 17th century French playwright Moliere. The story follows the pious fraud Tartuffe as he tries to manipulate the Orgon family into signing their worldly possessions over to him, including their house. A hilarious play for its time, Tartuffe has gone on to influence many subsequent playwrights in addition to being adapted as an opera, a film and a television series over three centuries after it was written.
