Named after the poem by E.E. Cummings, If By Yes is a hybrid of musical veterans, each engaged with the worlds of experimental and pop music. Vocalist Petra Haden and producer Yuka Honda have each been involved in various projects since the mid-90s, including work with artists such as Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, Sean Lennon, Beck and Green Day. On its latest project, If By Yes adds two other band members, filling out the group with a drummer and guitarist. The band's song "If By Yes" (yes, the band's name) is a stuttering, sparkling track that seems to effortlessly navigate through stop and start percussion and aimless guitar plucks. If the conjoining forces in this band are any indication, this song is as explosive and dizzying as one might predict.
