Looking to carry that torch on into the 2010s is the London by way of Melbourne duo, Gypsy & the Cat. The two DJs make shimmery electropop songs heavy on 80s nostalgia, full of big choruses and whirling synthesizers. The danceable beats are omnipresent, but they never manage to steal the focus entirely away from the group's affinity for pop songcraft. The group's debut album, Gilgamesh, came out in 2010.
