Musicians Xander Singh and Luc Laurent met in Boston, bonded over a shared respect for a similar style of music and shortly thereafter decided to form a band, dubbing it Pepper Rabbit. However, instead of writing a few songs and playing at local venues, like most newly formed bands would, the duo recorded its debut album in New Orleans and decided to premiere its repertoire of chamber pop in India. The duo's travels are reflected in the variety of influences and instruments in Pepper Rabbit's music, which is full of tinkly piano keys, Balkan accordions, Southern banjos and plucked ukulele strings. Densely layered with such a multitude of instruments, the music of Pepper Rabbit tricks the listener into assuming the duo is actually a full orchestra; appropriately, the two musicians' stage presence and dexterity on their instruments wields the force of a full orchestra when performing.
