By using a piano as the central instrument in its sound, the English alternative rock band A Silent Film has stumbled upon a unique sonic calling-card. This type of music seems to resound well with a number of listeners looking for a group that isn't afraid to truly expose itself to communicate a heartfelt message with its music. The quartet released its debut album, The City that Sleeps, in 2010, but the band created a certain amount of buzz for itself after releasing an EP in 2007, which caught the ear of a few notable radio DJs in the UK. The music A Silent Film creates is slightly theatrical--often a bit too grandiose at times -and the group has managed to secure a fairly respectable following in its home county that'll no doubt grow with continued touring.
