When Martin Reed ran a record store in Brighton, England throughout the 90s, he built up an almost encyclopedic knowledge of different electronic music. When Reed started composing his own music, this comprehensive knowledge of electronic grooves gave him a leg up when it came to trying to find a proper beat to sample or drum track to overdub. As he began spending more time in the studio and at various clubs, prominent musicians began to take notice and soon there was a mini bidding war going on between independent record labels for the up-and-coming artist. Opting to release music under the pseudonym Krafty Kuts, Reed made a splash in the music community with his well received 2006 debut album Freakshow.
