North Highlands is an indie folk rock band from Brooklyn, New York that originally coalesced around the musical vision of the group's main singer/songwriter Brenda Malvini. Despite the band's roots in the bustling city of New York, North Highland's sound can be most closely compared to the type of folk rock coming from the smaller, more isolated towns of the Mid/Northwestern states. As evidenced by the success of its bedroom-recorded debut EP Sugar Lips, North Highland's celebration of closeness and the coziness of small spaces has both critics and fans of independent music ready to pack into the band's living room for a listen.
