Los Angeles duo Uh Huh Her had a fan base before it began creating music, due to front woman Leisha Hailey's role on popular television show The L Word. Playing its first show to a packed crowd full of critics and label heads, the duo amassed a fair amount of acclaim for its distinctly feminine new wave electropop. After this successful performance in 2007, Uh Huh Her went on to secure a record deal and land on the soundtrack for Oscar-nominated film The Kids Are Alright. While the band members claim to have the intention of creating a more alternative form of music--refusing to listen to any contemporary songs while recording their album and instead looking to past for inspiration--Uh Huh Her has secured a fairly mainstream audience and become a commercially viable band.
