Combining touches of dance rock with high-strung post punk, New Roman Times is a four-piece indie rock band based out of Austin, Texas. The band--which takes its name from an old Camper Van Beethoven record--was originally formed in Orlando by husband and wife duo, Daniel Owens (guitar/vocals) and Josie Fluri (bass/vocals), but later incorporated additional musicians to play second guitar, drums and synthesizer. The bands debut album, International Affairs, was released in 2005 and its moderate success afforded the band opportunities to open for notable indie bands such as The Rapture and Death Cab for Cutie. New Roman Times released a follow-up in 2009 called On the Sleeve, which offers a fuller, more fleshed-out version of the band's fidgety indie rock.
