Eulaulah Donyll Hathaway is a singer/songwriter from Chicago who creates soul, R&B and jazz under the moniker Lalah Hathaway. A classically trained vocalist and the daughter of soul singer Donny Hathaway, she released her eponymous debut album in 1990 and quickly earned the nickname the First Daughter of Soul with the hit songs "Heaven Knows" and "Baby Don't Cry." She quickly responded with the follow-up LP A Moment, in 1994, and arguably her most renowned release, the 1999 studio album The Song Live On. Hathaway continues to craft her heart-wrenching songs on records including 2011's Where It All Begins.
