Marah is a rock and roll band that emerged out of Philadelphia in 1993. Bringing banjos into the standard rock instrument lineup of guitar, bass and drums, the band captured a distinctive American roots rock sonic aesthetic. Marah first introduced itself to a national audience with the debut album, Let's Cut The Crap & Hook Up Later on Tonight, in 1998. Paying its dues on the club circuit, the band earned a reputation for its energetic live performances and various collaborations with songwriters like Nick Hornby and Sarah Vowell and musicians such as Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle. Marah maintained a consistent recording schedule over the years, dropping its tenth studio LP Mara Presents Mountain Minstrelsy of Pennsylvania, in 2014.
