Austin, Texas-based jazz singer Kat Edmonson always places her quivery voice right behind the beat. Doing so gives her performances a slightly halting quality that would seem awkward or nervous if the seductive coo perched on the edge of her syllables wasn't fortified with the confidence instilled by her jazz singing influences. Edmonson lends her distinctive pipes to a whole host of originals, jazz standards as well as her drastic reinterpretations of pop songs.
